Dave's House

Reviewed 7 June 2002

With recent events in Derek's household, namely the birth of his first child Alexander, Derek was unable to meet up with me for lunch today (something to do with a lack of sleep). So I decided to try a place that would normally be a bit out of the way for Derek but is very convenient for me - my place.

For main course I had a toasted sandwich which contained mouth watering roast lamb with mint jelly, tomato, cheese, and lettuce.

No wine was drunk, only raspberry cordial.

A warm jam donut with vanilla ice-cream was just delightful for dessert.

The atmosphere was quiet, as I seemed to be the only person dining at this establishment, although the sound of the radio on in the background diverted my attention from this fact. A mark against this eatery was that you had to serve yourself, but with such a fine selection of dishes available that was something I was prepared to put up with. While talking to myself the comment was made that "this is fine cuisine prepared by a very talented chef" (which translates to "tasted good because I made it").

It was good value with the meals being very cheap, typically costing less than $2.

The toilet facilities were adequate but could do with a clean though.

Dave's summary: "I'll definitely eat here again."

Bonus comment from Derek: "This review made me hungry, dammit."

Probability that at least one of us will return: 42 / 42

Note that the probability rating is affected by the fact that there are hundreds of places to eat around here.
