Moylans does not specialise in steaks. But I've had less satisfying meals at twice the price at dedicated steakhouses. The only complaint I have about Moylans steak is that the cuts are a little bit small. But they're not expensive, either.
The full menu covers a typical range of café fare, from salads to sandwiches and burgers and pasta. Prices are very reasonable (the porterhouse was $18, pastas from about $13 to $15) given the city location. The decor is sort of underground-cafeteria-bar-type-thing with dark wood and brick and a large exposed kitchen behind the bar at the front.
I had the Porterhouse with Pepper Sauce ($18) and Dave tried a daily special, the Roasted Porterhouse with Bonconcinni and Red Wine Jus, served with Sauteed Asparagus, Capsicum, and Mushrooms ($18.50). I ordered mine rare and it was served just on the done side of rare but still acceptable (I tend to like my meat very red). Dave ordered his medium and it came just a little bit underdone. So the cooking times aren't quite sorted but we're talking ninety percent here and it was as good as many restaurants can manage.
At any rate, the quality of the meat was so good that the chef could have got the preparation completely wrong and we probably would have enjoyed it anyway. It's not often that I rave about a steak but this was really superb. The only problem, as I said before, was the size. I wasn't unsatisfied at the end (after dessert) but poor Dave was still hungry, even after his Christmas Pudding ($6.50), which was tasty but unfortunately a little bit small. My Affogato ($7.50) - basically a do-it-yourself concoction of espresso, vanilla ice cream, and Kahlua - was delicious and reasonably sized.
We enjoyed our meals with a glass each of Wolf Blass Shiraz (2001), which was just fine (the wine non-reviewer strikes again).
Service was good but we forgot to do the auto-water-refill test. We also forgot to check out the toilets (hey, with Christmas approaching fast, we're allowed to be a little slack, aren't we?).
All in all, in spite of the small serving sizes, the food was high quality and we did enjoy the meal a lot. Moylans loses a couple of points for sending Dave away without a full tummy, but we could just as well have ordered more food.

Dave's summary: "I'm still hungry."
Probability that we will return: 37 / 42
Note that the probability rating is affected by the fact that there are hundreds of places to eat around here.
