I didn't get as much work done yesterday as I wanted to, so I decided to get up early
("stupid o-clock" as Lisa says) and instead of coming straight to work I stopped at a
cosy little cafe in the city after getting off the train. Nice corner seat, with a
padded bench and lots of big throw cushions. I could go back to sleep here... but
no, the idea was to get some work done.
It's nice. Sipping my coffee, watching as people wander in for breakfast, shuffling
through Bill's review comments on my design for the Greenvale Reservoir Inlet control
system, which is really too convoluted and hard to follow. But I suppose it's a bit
late to do anything about it now - the really sensible time for review comments has long
passed, and all we can do is make minor adjustments now. I suppose that as long as the
water flows when it should, then nobody will complain. It just reflects the complexity
of the outgoing system at any rate.
It's good to relax and get something done at the same time. I haven't spent enough time
relaxing lately. Most nights I have been in front of the computer trying to get the
wedding video edited. It's fun, playing movie director, but it's painstaking work. And in
spite of my whiz-bang super fast computer, I think I have pushed the limits of file size and
complexity. Very frustrating when you spend hours creating a sequence and can't get
the equipment to render it properly.

I think it pretty well sums up how I feel much of the time lately. |
Oh, and it's Pancake Tuesday today. Yum!
