Reflections.

28 February 2002

We just spent four days in Hobart, which was really nice. Our last chance at a quiet getaway before Mini Moo arrives. Stayed at Undine where they have the most wonderful pancake breakfasts...

We spent a day at Port Arthur... it's so beautiful and peaceful there, it's hard to imagine what happened that day in April 1996. There is a lovely memorial garden and reflection pool next to the remains of the Broad Arrow Cafe, with a simple plaque to inform visitors why it's there. The Visitors' Centre and tour guides do not mention anything. It is understated and elegant, a way to remember the victims of a great tragedy without giving any publicity to the perpetrator (who is not named anywhere on the site).

Mini Moo has been kicking. I got a wallop the other day when I put my ear to Lisa's tummy. We went to the Salamanca Market in Hobart and dragged my friend Roy (who doesn't have kids) through all the kiddie clothing and toy stalls, going "ooh!" and "look!" and "hee hee!" Poor Roy.

Oh, and Jenny had her amnio a few weeks ago, and little Spegg is just fine. It's going to be babies galore around here.
